Algarve tipped for multiple Portugal Travel Awards

The Algarve is tipped for multiple Portugal Travel Awards this year, with the cherry on the cake being “Best National Tourism Destination”, reports tourism newspaper Publituris.

This far the region has been nominated for ‘Best Five-Star Hotel’ (Conrad Algarve), ‘Best Four-Star Hotel’ (Vila Galé Lagos) and ‘Best Three-Star Hotel’ (Luna Alvor Bay), as well as five nominations for ‘Best Resort Hotel’ and another five for ‘Best Golf Course’.

The University of the Algarve is also in the running for a prize for its tourism courses.

It all depends on the voting, led by a jury (60% of votes) but helped along by Publituris newsletter readers (40%).

To take part, people have to subscribe and can then vote on http://premios.publituris.pt/travel_2015/

The full list of nominees can be found online at http://premios.publituris.pt/travel_2015/categorias.html

This year’s jury includes the Algarve’s tourism grandee entrepreneur André Jordan, president of the national tourism board João Cotrim de Figueiredo and former secretary of state for tourism Luís Veiga.

The award ceremony will be held at Albufeira’s Pine Cliffs Resort on September 11.

Last year, the Algarve won four Portugal Travel Awards, with Conrad Algarve and Dom José Beach Hotel named ‘Best Five Star Hotel’ and ‘Best Three Star Hotel’, while Albufeira’s EPIC SANA and Onyria Palmares in Lagos were rated ‘Best Hotel Resort’ and ‘Best Golf Course’.
